I just want to start by saying this post is NOT sponsored although I wish it was haha. I just enjoy sharing what works for me, in hopes that it will help someone else.
Below you’ll find step-by-step instructions on my wash day curly hair routine.
I usually only wash my hair once a week (on Sunday), but occasionally I will co-wash my hair during the week.
Shampoo
Maui Moisture Curl Quench + Coconut Oil Shampoo
I like to wash my hair in the sink, DON’T JUDGE ME. I’ll wash it in the shower from time to time, but I just prefer washing it in the sink. I randomly came across this shampoo at Target and it smells good + does the job. I like to give myself a nice scalp massage and I’ll do this twice. The first time I’ll put the shampoo on all of my hair. The second time I only rub the shampoo on my scalp and let it run through the rest of my hair when I rinse it out. Do I have a real reason for this? Nah. It just works for me and my scalp feels super clean after.
Condition
OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner
I’ll divide my hair into two sections and put this conditioner all throughout my hair. I like to show extra love to my ends. Then I comb my hair from the bottom to the top until all of my knots out and rinse it out.
Deep Condition
I alternate between Mielle Organics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner and OGX Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Treatment because I love them both. I always put a plastic shower cap over my hair and keep it on for at least 30 minutes and no more than a few hours. I used to keep my deep conditioner in my hair overnight, but I read that it could be damaging. Then I rinse it out.
Style
I divide my hair into 4 sections and make sure my hair is wet when I put in my styling products. I’ll put the following products in one section and then repeat on all of the other sections.
I like to start with a leave-in conditioner. I alternate between Mielle Organic’s Pomegranate & Honey Leave-In and the Avocado Hair Milk. I rake the leave-in through my hair and then comb through (again) to make sure all of the knots are out.
Next, I rake Mielle Organics Pomegranate & Honey Curl Smoothie through my hair for extra moisture.
After the smoothie, I rake a generous amount of the Mielle Organics Pomegranate & Honey Curling Custard through my hair. THIS IS MY FAVORITE PRODUCT EVER!!! The consistency is similar to a gel, but not as thick. It doesn’t flake and it takes my curl definition to another level. After my hair dries, my curls are super soft and bouncy.
After I add all three of these styling products in each section, I flip my hair over and scrunch more of the custard into my hair to make sure I didn’t miss any spots. Then I run my fingers through my hair to detangle again and to make sure my hair isn’t sticking to my scalp.
When I’m not feeling lazy I will add Mielle Honey & Ginger Styling Gel to my ends and the crown of my head because that’s where I notice the most frizz.
Last, I either air dry or diffuse my hair. Disclaimer: when my hair is drying it feels like it’s going be crunchy, but the next day my curls are super soft and bouncy.
Here is what my hair looks like on the first day:
(wet vs. 75% dry)
Once my hair is fully dry I use a hair pick for more volume. I also use the Mielle Gel on my edges.

At night I put my hair up in a pineapple and put a satin bonnet over it. I also sleep on a satin pillowcase. Doing both of these steps have helped to minimize my frizz. In the morning, I whip off my bonnet, shake my hair out, add gel on my edges, and pick my hair out for more volume. Voila!

Mielle Organics has easily become my favorite brand of hair products and I plan to continue to use them until my hair tells me otherwise ❤
I loved the post and your blog! Lots of screenshots were taken lol. You’ve inspired me to start my own lifestyle blog and try more of the MO products. I got the Leave-In last week but I’ve ran through that. I really liked it though! Just accepting my products won’t last me as long as they used to lol
