My skin journey has not been easy by any means. Last year I was extremely insecure about my skin. I would literally cry whenever I would look in the mirror, but I’ve FINALLY found a skin routine that works for me and now I feel super confident with no makeup on.
The photo on the left was taken Feb 2016 and the photo on right was taken July 2017 with no makeup on (excuse the bags under my eyes lol).
Here are some other photos that were taken throughout my journey:
The picture below includes almost everything I use. The only things not pictured are my argan oil and my daytime moisturizer with sunscreen – I usually use Aveeno active naturals moisturizer w/ SPF.
I have been using the acne.org regimen which includes:
– the cleanser
– 2.5% benzoyl peroxide
– moisturizer w/ licochalcone (this is my night-time moisturizer)
– AHA+ (I used this to rid my scars)*
There’s a step-by-step guide you can watch on their site about how you should use their products and they even send you a sheet of directions when you buy them. These products are kind of pricey, but they lasted me a while and they saved my life face! I didn’t start seeing results until about 3 months of using these products, so if you choose to use them, be patient! They also created a list of drugstore alternatives you can try too. I haven’t used these alternatives so I honestly have no idea if they work for me.
Disclaimer: The acne.org products made my skin EXTREMELY dry when I first started using them. So dry, that I almost discontinued using these products. My solution for the dryness now is to add 2-3 drops of argan oil with my night-time moisturizer. The acne.org website suggests using their jojoba oil for dryness too. I’ve never tried jojoba oil, but I’ve heard great things!
I use the acne.org moisturizer + argan oil as my night time moisturizer. I love argan oil because it’s very light and absorbs quickly. It’s been great for hydrating and keeping my skin baby smooth. A study in 2015 even showed how its benefits include anti-aging effects. During the day, I use my Aveeno moisturizer with SPF.
I also take zinc and vitamin E pills daily which helped to stop my hormonal breakouts. Oh, and of course, I’ve been trying to drink plenty of water.
It took me FOREVER to find a skin routine that worked for me, so I wanted to write this in hopes that this can be of use to someone else!

A very positive article, as how we look on the outside can impact how we feel on the inside and relate to others.~Dr.K
